| Resumo: | O presente trabalho visa descrever as representações que as crianças vendedoras constroem em torno do cemitério. Tomando em consideração que as representações sociais são imagens, ideias, noções, a partir das quais os actores sociais pensam sobre uma determinada realidade, o argumento central do trabalho consiste no seguinte: em função da familiarização com o cemitério e das actividades praticadas no cemitério, as crianças constroem outras representações sobre o cemitério. Prosseguindo com o propósito do trabalho, com base na observação e nas entrevistas, constatamos dois níveis de percepção a partir dos quais as crianças vendedoras de água constroem representações em torno do cemitério. O primeiro nível a partir do qual as crianças representam o cemitério diz respeito as interpretações socialmente construídas e difundidas sobre o cemitério. As crianças partilham da sociedade a nação de que o cemitério é um lugar sagrado e que por esse facto devia ser respeitado. É um lugar onde são enterrados os mortos e, portanto, representa lugar de dor e sofrimento para as pessoas que vão enterrar os seus familiares e visitar as campas. O segundo nível a partir do qual as crianças constroem representações sobre o cemitério tem a ver com a familiarização com o cemitério, por um lado, e com as actividades que realizam dentro do cemitério, nomeadamente: vender agua, lavar e pintar campas, plantar relva e cuidar das plantas existentes nos vasos que se encontram sobre as campas. Neste nível, as crianças consideram o cemitério como sendo local de trabalho; uma fonte de rendimento; lugar onde, nos tempos livres, se pode brincar, conversar e ate trocar gracinhas. It is a place where the dead are buried and, therefore, represents a place of pain and suffering for people who are going to bury their families and visit the graves. The second level from which children build representations about the cemetery has to do with familiarizing themselves with the cemetery, on the one hand, and with the activities they carry out within the cemetery, namely: selling water, washing and painting graves, planting grass and taking care of the plants in the pots that are on the graves. At this level, children consider the cemetery to be a place of work; a source of income; a place where, during free time, you can play, talk and even exchange jokes.
