Abstract

This work, whose theme is "The Representation of Mozambican Cultural Identity in Neyma Alfredo," is part of the culmination of the Bachelor's Degree in Mozambican Literature, in the field of Oral Literature. The interest and aspiration for carrying out this research arises within the scope of the disciplines of Literature in Bantu Languages ​​and Literature and Other Arts, when we relate literature and music, literature and dance, literature and cinema, in short, literature being a universal unit that dialogues with other forms of artistic expression, to broaden the mind, enrich the utopia through language as an instrument of social interaction. — In the musical tradition, the continent has much in common — the fact that music is transmitted aurally. This work aims to understand how cultural identity is represented in the music of Neyma Alfredo. Specifically, it identifies, analyzes, and interprets the representation of Mozambican identity in the three songs, namely: “Anima marrabenta”, “a hidzimeni”, and “mutxado”. The reason we decided to do this study has to do with the fact that we found in this musical artist a critical view of society regarding marriage, work and agricultural production, and the promotion of the image of Mozambican women. In this context, we hope that it will contribute to Mozambican literature, specifically in the field of orality, and encourage further investigative work regarding the study of songs. The study aims to answer the following question: how is Mozambican cultural identity represented in Neyma Alfredo? In response, we put forward the following arguments: in Neyma Alfredo, Mozambican cultural identity manifests itself through certain cultural traits, such as the local language used in the songs, the musical rhythm, and the capulana as a representation of Mozambican cultural identity. This essay is structured as follows: the first part is the introduction, which presents the motivation, objectives, contribution, and problem; the second part deals with the presentation of key concepts, which contextualize our subject and 7 present the analysis of our arguments; in the third part we will present the conclusion and the recommendations and, finally, the bibliographic references and appendices(TRADUÇÃO NOSSA)
