Distribuição espacial da população no distrito de Morrumbala - Zambézia

Abstract

The geographical distribution of the population is understood as the different forms of organization of society in the territory, creating a set of interrelationships with the natural environment, giving rise to well-defined spaces with their own characteristics. This distribution is influenced by two groups of factors: physical or natural and socioeconomic or human. These factors generate differentiations of ecumene and anecumen areas in a given region or territory. In the case of Mozambique, for a long time physical and natural factors took precedence in the population distribution; however, currently there is an undeniable relationship between population distribution and the distribution of basic social services, from access to health services, education, commerce, etc. This research aims to identify the factors that contribute to the spatial distribution of the population in the Morrumbala district, seeking to explain mainly the existing relationships between the distribution of socioeconomic activities and infrastructure, physical aspects, and the distribution of the population. To achieve this purpose, the research uses a qualitative methodology, which will employ bibliographic research, documentary research, and semi-structured interviews as data collection techniques and instruments. Content analysis will be used to analyze the qualitative data collected. Geographic information systems will be used to create thematic maps that will better represent the spatial distribution of the population and natural and socioeconomic phenomena.(TRADUÇAO NOSSA)
