Abstract

The present thesis aims to take a different approach to the analysis of the set of political, economic and social phenomena that occurred in the country after independence (1975 - 1992). The period referred to and the events that marked it are subject to different interpretations, the most common of which are: - War of Destabilization; - Civil War. In fact, there was a strong conflict in Mozambique that tore the country apart, the marks of which are still alive. The discussion of the origins, nature and other underlying aspects of the conflict are the main theme of this paper. More or less clearly, the military aspect of the conflict is common knowledge. However, the situations that would have caused it remain unclear. Although the various currents always point to the same origin, something is still unclear. One of the currents points to the global confrontation inherent in the post-World War II Cold War, thus leading to counter-revolution. In fact, most explanations of the phenomenon are based on this current. The other, more recent one, points to situations resulting from the application of the governing system by FREL1MO, i.e. to internal origins. The approach to the subject will be made in two directions: a. Vertical: presenting the description of the implications of the conflict from base to superstructure'. b. Horizontal: the conflict affected the entire social, economic and cultural fabric of the country. This requires a joint analysis of the implications and possible elements that contribute to the understanding of the origins and nature of the conflict. (NOSSA TRADIÇAO)
