| Abstract: | This translation report presents selected excerpts from the IMF document titled "Transparency, Governance and Corruption in Mozambique", published in 2019, with a special focus on the Executive Summary, Introduction, General Assessment, and Reform Measures. These sections were chosen for containing the most relevant analysis regarding governance issues in the country and the recommendations to address existing structural challenges. This translation content thoroughly addresses the main problems related to systemic corruption, lack of transparency, public finance management, and the weak business environment, highlighting how these factors impact economic growth and international trust. Furthermore, the report emphasizes reform measures focused on strengthening institutions, improving accountability, ensuring greater efficiency in the public sector, and promoting inclusive and transparent governance. This report is organized into three main chapters: - The first chapter describes the translation methods used, including strategies for translating technical vocabulary, complex sentences, and long paragraphs; - The second chapter analyzes the main difficulties encountered, such as the adaptation of specific governance and public finance terms, translation of acronyms, and alignment between different linguistic and cultural styles; - The third chapter presents the experiences gained during the translation process and outlines perspectives for improvement, highlighting the importance terminological standardization and ongoing practice to enhance the translation of official documents. The aim of this report is to provide readers with a deeper understanding of Mozambique’s governance challenges and the proposed solutions in the selected sections, while also illustrating the translation process adopted, serving as a reference for future academic translation work. |
