| Título: | O papel das ONG's internacionais na promoção da educação: caso da World Vision no distrito de Chibuto, localidade de Godide (Gaza) 2003-2013 |

| Resumo: | O presente trabalho analisa o contributo da World Vision na promoção da Educação na localidade de Godide, distrito de Chibuto, no período de 2003 a 2013. O estudo revisita a trajetória da educação em Moçambique desde 1975, destacando as transformações políticas e sociais do período pós independência que influenciaram a organização, expansão e os desafios estruturais da educação nacional. Este enquadramento permite compreender as razões pelas quais, a partir da década de 1980, o país assistiu ao crescimento significativo das organizações não governamentais, cujo o papel se tornou relevante no apoio a sectores fundamentais, incluindo a educação. O trabalho examina também o surgimento e expansão das ONG‟s em Moçambique, bem com as dinâmicas da sua relação com o governo e as leis que regem o seu funcionamento, evidenciado o modo como a actuação das ONG‟s tem contribuído para suprir limitações institucionais, especialmente nas zonas rurais. A intervenção da World Vision é analisada neste contexto, destacando-se as acções desenvolvidas na localidade de Godide, com particular enfoque na Escola Primária de 1.º e 2.º de Chipadja. Entre essas acções constam-se a construção e a reabilitação de infra-estruturas escolares, a distribuição de materiais pedagógicos, o incentivo ao acesso das crianças sobretudo raparigas na escola e o fortalecimento da relação escola-comunidade. Metodologicamente, o estudo fundamenta-se em pesquisa documental, pesquisa bibliográfica e entrevistas realizadas com actores locais, incluindo antigos gestores escolares, professores e encarregados da educação e antigos funcionários (membro e ex- facilitadores) da organização na localidade de Godide. Os resultados revelam que a intervenção da World Vision produziu impactos visíveis, como a construção de novas salas de aula, na distribuição de material escolar pedagógico e programas de apoio a famílias vulneráveis. Contundo, indicam também desafios relativos à sustentabilidade das iniciativas, à dependência comunitária das ONG‟s e a limitada capacidade do Estado em garantir continuidade plena das acções implementadas. |
| Abstract: | This paper analyzes the contribution of World Vision to the promotion of education in the locality of Godide, Chibuto district, from 2003 to 2013. The study revisits the trajectory of education in Mozambique since 1975, highlighting the political and social transformations of the post-independence period that influenced the organization, expansion, and structural challenges of national education. This framework allows us to understand the reasons why, from the 1980s onwards, the country witnessed the significant growth of non-governmental organizations, whose role became relevant in supporting fundamental sectors, including education. The work also examines the emergence and expansion of NGOs in Mozambique, as well as the dynamics of their relationship with the government and the laws governing their operation, highlighting how the actions of NGOs have contributed to overcoming institutional limitations, especially in rural areas. The intervention of World Vision is analyzed in this context, highlighting the actions developed in the locality of Godide, with particular focus on the Chipadja Primary School (1st and 2nd grades). Among these actions are the construction and rehabilitation of school infrastructure, the distribution of teaching materials, the encouragement of access to school for children, especially girls, and the strengthening of the school-community relationship. Methodologically, the study is based on documentary research, bibliographic research, and interviews conducted with local actors, including former school managers, teachers and guardians, and former employees (members and former facilitators) of the organization in the locality of Godide. The results reveal that the intervention of World Vision produced visible impacts, such as the construction of new classrooms, the distribution of teaching materials, and support programs for vulnerable families. However, they also indicate challenges related to the sustainability of the initiatives, the community's dependence on NGOs, and the limited capacity of the State to guarantee the full continuity of the actions implemented. |
